HEALTHY HANDS - photographs by Heikki Kemppainen 1980-84 is a time travel to the early years of Finland's first hardcore band and its hometown of Tornio.
Journalist-photographer Heikki Kemppainen (b. 1964) was a close associate of Healthy Hands and began filming the band at the age of 16. Through his camera, which has been carried everywhere, he offers a unique perspective on the band Terveet Kädet, from its first gig in Finland to the tragic death of drummer Walden.
The 120-page book also tells the story of Tornio and its cultural life outside its punk districts in the early 1980s.
Heikki Kemppainen's TC images have been shown in two exhibitions in Tornio and Helsinki. This is the first time they will be published on a single cover, and much of the book’s hundreds of photographs are now being seen for the first time.
